Originating in 17th-century France, it features a double-sloped roof, often punctuated by dormered windows. Its steeply pitched roof not only lends a distinctive aesthetic but also allows for high ceilings throughout the upper floor, enhancing the sense of grandeur and spaciousness within the home's interior. Its elegance is heightened by ornate cornices, decorative trim-work, and symmetrical facade detailing.
